To the editor:

As members of the 2018-19 Coleytown Middle School PTA Executive Board, we would like to show our full support for Board of Education candidates Lee Goldstein and Neil Phillips.

2018-19 was a tumultuous time in the history of CMS. The school building was discovered to have a severe mold problem and needed extensive remediation.

As president of the CMS PTA, Lee Goldstein fearlessly gave voice to the school’s ongoing water intrusion issue, was tirelessly instrumental in the building remediation process and joyously celebrated the return of our children to a new, safe school.

The school simply would not have been repaired and made safe for our children were it not for Lee’s unwavering persistence. As parents we owe her a debt of gratitude for giving our children a safe building in which to learn every day. In her time on the BOE, Lee has brought this same unwavering advocacy to all of our district’s buildings and students.

As a member of the Board of Education during that same tumultuous time, Neil Phillips was a calm and reassuring presence; always willing to listen to our thoughts and concerns as parents. We felt secure knowing Neil would always put the children’s safety first and he made sure our thoughts and opinions were always taken into consideration.

Both Lee and Neil continually demonstrated their willingness to work with us as parents for the safety of our children.

Lee Goldstein and Neil Phillips are a wonderful team who have proven they will always do what is best for the children and families of Westport.

Our school district is top ranked for a reason!
