WESTPORT — Flu vaccinations are available from the Westport-Weston Health District, officials remind the public.

There is a limited supply of high-dose and standard influenza vaccines at the health district offices, 180 Bayberry Lane, according to town Health Director Mark Cooper. The high-dose flu vaccine is available for people 65 years old and over.

Walk-ins are accepted during usual weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the district offices. However, officials encourage people to schedule an appointment in advance. Appointments can be made via the health district’s website here or by calling 203-227-9571, ext. 231.

There also will be a flu inoculation clinic, open to residents of the tri-town health district, on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Easton Public Library, 691 Morehouse Road, Easton.

The Easton clinic will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Book an appointment here. Walk-ins will also be accepted.

Another clinic is set for Thursday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave.

Insurance accepted for WWHD flu vaccinations are Aetna, Cigna, Connecticare, and Medicare Part B, according to a statement from the health district. Insurance cards must be presented for each person receiving an inoculation. People with other health insurance or no insurance coverage must pay with cash, check or credit card. Visa and Mastercard credit cards accepted.

Fees for the vaccinations are: $45 for the standard influenza vaccine, and $80 for the high-dose vaccine.

Although the federal Centers for Disease Control recommends individuals 6 months old and over be vaccinated against the flu, the WWHD will vaccinate people over 3 years old.
