WESTPORT — The American Parkinson Disease Association’s “Westport Optimism Walk” returns to Sherwood Island State Park this Saturday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m.

After holding a virtual event last year, the APDA’s Connecticut Chapter is hosting the 9th annual walk as part of a nationwide series of Optimism Walks.

A family-friendly event, it will consist of a short walk of up to 1.5 miles, with the full distance optional for participants. There will also be music, raffles, and a chance to bond with others who are similarly connected.

According to the APDA, funds raised help provide support groups, exercise classes, educational conferences and more.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the walk kicking off at 11 a.m.
