WESTPORT — A master plan for town parks, the first in more than three decades, will be the topic of an April 24 workshop to gather public feedback.
The project, initiated by parks officials last year, will be outlined for the public at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave. Two more forums on the plan will be scheduled later in the year.
Representatives of BL Companies, of Meriden, the consultant hired to put together the master plan will be on hand to solicit public comments and answer questions about the initiative.
Additional meetings on the master plan will take place during the summer and fall, with specific dates to be announced.
Parks officials previously have said that Longshore Club Park, the town’s largest recreational facility, however, will not be part of this townwide master plan because a separate Longshore Park Capital Improvement Plan has been in the works for more than three years.
“These public forums are a vital first step in ensuring public feedback as the town develops its parks master plan,” Parks and Recreation Director Erik Barbieri said in a statement announcing the workshop.
