WESTPORT — The forecast of a major winter snow storm rocking the region this weekend means school buildings will be off limits for activities planned after 5 p.m. Saturday, Supt. of Schools Thomas Scarice announced Friday.

With “heavy snow” expected to start falling late Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, Scarice said all weekend activities — school-related as well as parks and recreation programs — are canceled through Sunday.

The superintendent also noted that more winter storms, forecast for the coming week, may disrupt the school district’s schedule. 

Future cancellations will be announced as warranted by weather conditions.
