WESTPORT — Waves of music and merriment are set to engulf the stage at Coleytown Middle School — a.k.a Bikini Bottom — as “The SpongeBob Musical” is performed April 8-10.
The show will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 8-9 and at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the school, 255 North Ave. The $20 tickets can be reserved by clicking here.

The Coleytown Company, working under the guidance of Ben Frimmer, director and theater educator, has been in rehearsal since December.
The musical, featuring characters from the popular cartoon series, is highlighted by original songs from Steven Tyler, Sara Bareilles, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, David Bowie and others.
About 40 students are in the SpongeBob cast, with nearly 20 more in the technical crew.’

The young performers and technicians benefited from professionals who lent their expertise to help polish the production, including costume designer Robin Mazzola, set designer Jordan Janota, pit conductor Chris Coogan, voice coach Clay Zambro and former Broadway dancer Amiee Turner with choreography. The orchestra pit includes professional musicians as well.
The middle school crew also got hands-on experience in constructing the sets, fashioning scenery from garbage and recycled materials that they collected.
