WESTPORT — Eight “Students of the Month” for December have been named at Staples High School.

They are: seniors Deneil Betfarhad and William Lacend Duprey; juniors Kelpin Gomez Ramos, Christina Kavanah and Elsa D’Elia; sophomore Reese Rein, and freshmen Lila Roach and Simon Van Aken.

The students, nominated by teachers, are selected for helping to make the high school “a welcoming place for their peers and teachers alike,” according the school’s announcement.

The citation recognizes the recipients as “all-around good citizens” at Staples, and credits “the positive attitude they bring to school every day in making Staples High School a genial place in which to learn and teach.”
