Board of Education Chair Lee Goldstein, left, and Linedy Genao, a “Native Gardens” cast member, will lead a discussion on inclusivity and understanding personal differences Sunday at Westport Country Playhouse.

WESTPORT — A program exploring ways to understand the differences that often divide society — by race, gender, class and identity — will be presented Sunday at the Westport Country Playhouse.

“Planting Our Gardens — A Conversation about Growing Stronger Together,” hosted by the theater in conjunction with its current production, “Native Gardens,” is the theme of a discussion by Lee Goldstein, the Board of Education chair, and Linedy Genao, a “Native Gardens” cast member.

It will take place at approximately 4:30 p.m., following the 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, performance of “Native Gardens” at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court. It is free and open to the public.

Among her remarks, Goldstein will discuss the “No Place for Hate” initiative in Westport public schools, an Anti-Defamation League program designed to improve climate in the schools by addressing issues like bullying.

Genao is the first Latina performer to originate the leading role in an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical on Broadway.

Inspired by the current “Native Gardens” production, the program “will delve into cultivating better understanding in shared spaces,” according to the theater’s announcement.
