WESTPORT — Golfers having a good time in support of a good cause.
That description fits the Westport Police Athletic League’s 60th annual “Chief Samuel Luciano Golf Tournament” to a “tee.”
The tourney, which raises money for PAL scholarships, is set for Monday, Sept. 12, at the Longshore Golf Course. Rain date is Sept. 19.
The day-long event, which features 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. tee times, includes breakfast, lunch and evening cocktails and dinner, followed by a raffle and prizes.

Funds raised by the golf tournament, which has set a $50,000 goal, benefit Westport PAL’s annual scholarship program.
Each year, PAL presents between 20 to 25 scholarships to graduates of Staples High School and children of Westport police officers.
Tournament organizers hope between 175 to 185 players sign up this year, according to Officer Craig Bergamo, the Westport PAL president.
“It will be a fun day,” Bergamo said, open to men and women.
In addition to the golf, he promises “a good time, good food and good raffle prizes.”
For more information or questions, contact Bergamo at Westport Police Department headquarters at 203-341-6000 or email cbergamo@westportct.gov.
