WESTPORT–The CEO of Homes with Hope, Helen McAlinden, was overwhelmed with gratitude in the wake of the donations that surged over the last week.
“In the midst of uncertainty, our community once again proved what makes Westport so special,” McAlinden said.
The pause button has been hit on the uncertainty over SNAP payments. According to McAlinden, Connecticut EBT cards have been reloaded with November’s SNAP benefits.
But the delay in the payment caused anxiety for many and forced a large number of residents to seek food assistance.
McAlinden thanks the volunteers at the Gillespie Center Food Pantry, the citizen donors and the food drive organizers: Westport & Sunrise Rotary Clubs, Coleytown Middle School, Saugatuck Elementary School, Tend Dental, Staples Players, and the Westport Country Playhouse.
