WESTPORT — A campaign to collect footwear for people in need is afoot for another year.
The “Soles4Souls” campaign, organized by local lawyers Ken Bernhard and Ted Freedman, is collecting shoes for the needy in the U.S. and abroad through Nov. 24.
Collection boxes have been placed at Town Hall, Police Department headquarters and the Westport Center for Senior Activities.
Donations of new or gently used pairs of shoes — in good shape with no holes or mold — are sought for the collection, according to organizers. They also ask that donors tie the shoelaces together or use rubber bands to keep matched pairs joined.
Westporters have donated more than 3,000 pairs of shoes in the past, according to a press release. Bernhard and Freedman hope to collect at least 500 pairs during this year’s drive.
