WESTPORT — A “casting call” is out for people interested in being volunteer ushers for the 2023 season at the Westport Country Playhouse.
The theater’s new season is set to officially open with a production of “Ain’t Misbehavin’: The Fats Waller Musical” on April 11, and ushers are needed to greet patrons, scan tickets, distribute programs, answer audience questions and direct patrons to their seats, according to playhouse officials.
In exchange, the volunteers can watch performances at no charge when they are scheduled to usher.
Ushers will participate in an orientation session prior to their first shift to familiarize themselves with the theater and tasks, officials said.
Ushers at the playhouse must be over the age of 18, or a minor may be considered if accompanied by a guardian who also will usher. Ushers will be paired to work together as a team.
They must be able to stand for the length of a performance in case no seats are available. The dress code includes white shirts and black skirts/pants. Ushers also must be able to read small print in low light, according to the theater’s announcement.
For more information, call the playhouse at 203-227-4177.
