WESTPORT — ’Tis the season for holiday trees to take a “bough.”

Tree-lighting ceremonies will brighten the local holiday season Dec. 5 and 6.

The annual ceremony heralding the lighting of the tree at Town Hall is set for 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in front of the municipal building, 110 Myrtle Ave.

The Staples High School Orphenians will perform seasonal songs for the event, and the Westport Museum for History and Culture will provide hot chocolate.

On Friday, Dec. 6, the tree at Wakeman Town Farm, 134 Cross Highway, will be lighted with festive activities planned from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Christmas and Hanukkah music will be performed by students from Greens Farms and Saugatuck Elementary schools, as well as a group of musicians from the Staples High School Band.

Free cookies, treats and hot chocolate will be provided by The Porch at Christie’s and Sweet P Bakery.
