O, Christmas tree, O, Christmas tree,
how wilted are thy branches.
What once were green are turning brown,
the time has come to take you down.
O, Christmas tree, what now will become of thee?

WESTPORT — Scouts from Troops 39 and 139 have an ecologically sound answer to that perennial post-holiday conundrum.
For the 13th year, scouts will pick up Westporters’ Christmas trees on Saturday, Jan. 7. The trees will be mulched into wood chips.
Reservations to have a tree picked up can be made starting Tuesday, Jan. 3.
For more information and to make a reservation to have your tree picked up, click here.
Suggested donation is $20 per tree, according to programs organizers.
Scouts can pick up trees only from Westport addresses. Wreaths and garlands cannot be accepted because the wires ruin wood chippers.
