WESTPORT — Sorry, Rover, dog days at the beach are over … starting next week through fall.

The town’s seasonal policy prohibiting dogs, and other animals, from Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill beaches takes effect Monday, April 1, and remains in force through Monday, Sept. 30.

And, as activities on town athletic fields and playgrounds pick up with warmer weather, Parks and Recreation Department officials remind pet owners that all animals are prohibited from those facilities year-round.

For Fidos who miss frolicking on the beach during the spring/summer season, dogs are welcome at Winslow Park throughout the year.

On May 1, parking emblems will be required for vehicles entering the town’s beaches.
