WESTPORT — More than 1,000 power outages were reported in town Friday morning as a result of “an equipment issue,” with full service restored by early afternoon, according to Eversource.
Shortly after noontime, the number of outages had been reduced from 1,064 to 472 — 3.71 percent of the power company’s total Westport customers — after repair crews were dispatched, according to Mitch Gross, an Eversource spokesman.
Crews were working in the Myrtle Avenue area where a tree took down power lines, Gross said.
Full restoration of power to all Westport customers was reported about 12:20 p.m. Friday, ahead of original estimates that it might take about two hours longer.
