Monday

On Monday, residents should adjust their morning travel throughout the town this coming Monday, as the annual Memorial Day parade takes place.

Riverside Avenue, between Treadwell and Post Road, Post Road between Sylvan Road and Compo Road North, Wilton Road between Kings Highway North and Post Road and Myrtle Avenue between Post Road East and Myrtle Avenue will all be closed from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m, coinciding with the times of the parade.

Parade parking

According to Joshua Berkowsky, Co-Head of the Community Life Board at Saugatuck Congregational Church, the church, at 245 Post Road East, is opening its 172-car parking lot for Monday parade-goers. The lot will be accessible only until 8:30 a.m., when the town closes off that part of Post Road East.

During the parade hours, drivers should expect delays across town but especially at or around the site of those four road closures. Once reopened, the town urges motorists to use extreme caution in downtown Westport as there will be a major increase in pedestrian traffic.

According to a press release from the town, these adjustments are designed “to ensure a safe event for both participants and spectators.”
