WESTPORT — A three-part series focusing on the human brain and related medical issues will take place at the Westport Library starting Sept. 7.

The first presentation in the “Andrew Wilk Medical Series: The Brain” is set for at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7., with subsequent programs scheduled Oct. 30 and Nov. 21.

This fall’s medical series is the second to be presented at the library by Wilk, following a series on cardiovascular health earlier this year.

A five-time Emmy Award winner and former executive producer of “Live from Lincoln Center,” Wilk in earlier library programs has hosted conversations with award-winning journalists and documentarians, concert performances and a discussion with deep-sea explorer Robert Ballard.

Wilk will be joined at each of the three brain programs by Dr. Robert Altbaum, a Westport physician.

The series schedule follows: 

Sept. 7, 7 p.m.: “Strokes and Transient Ischemic Attacks:” Maximizing the chance for recovery. It will be presented by Drs. Daryl Story and Robert Altbaum.

Oct. 30, 7 p.m.: “Headaches and Migraine:” Better understanding the diagnosis and new therapies available. Presenters will be Drs. Dario Zagar and Robert Altbaum.

Nov. 21, 7 p.m.: “What’s New in Dementia.” The program will be presented by Drs. Michael Fitzpatrick and Robert Altbaum.
