WESTPORT — The 100th annual meeting of the Westport Weston Family YMCA took place recently, and the landmark gathering was marked with the recognition of present-day volunteers, donors and staff.

Peter Masanotti and Kristin McKinney, outgoing members of the Y’s Executive Committee, were cited for  “invaluable contributions and leadership.”

Alec Foege, Peter Masanotti and Barbara Wiederecht, leaving the board of directors, were recognized for “their dedicated service.”

Christi Downes and Daniel Ferson were introduced as nominees for the board of directors 2027 class, as well as Danny McHugh as a junior director.

The following awards also were presented:

“Lee J. Edelstein Volunteer of the Year,” went to Diane Dubovy Benke. She was honored for her “outstanding leadership as the chair of the WWFY’s Development Committee, including heling to organize the Y’s centennial celebrations, YMCA officials said in announcing the award.

“Legacy & Impact Award,” presented to Robin Tauck. She was recognized for “her visionary leadership and philanthropy,” as well as a former board of trustees and “generous donor” whose contributions “have created lasting benefits for the community,” according to the Y’s announcement.

“Youth of the Year,” shared by Kate Murray and Andrew Berkowitz. Murray, a member of the Water Rats swim team since she was 6 years old, was cited for “her remarkable achievements and team spirit,” the Y said in its announcement. Berkowitz was recognized for “his perseverance and embodiment of the Y’s core values … [in] “leadership and academic excellence.” He was the salutatorian for the Staples High School Class of 2024.

YMCA employee recognition awards include:

“Above & Beyond,” James Leask, maintenance technician.

“Commitment to Mission,” Victoria Walters, lifeguard and swim instructor.

“Relationship Champion,” Alejandro Flores, maintenance technician.

“Rookie of the Year:” Tina Turechek, digital marketing manager.
