WESTPORT — High school bands from around the region will “jam” at an Aug. 30 benefit concert, organized by Staples High School students, to support music lessons for young musicians.
The “Fairfield County Jam” battle of the bands will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s Warehouse, 70 Sanford St., Fairfield.
Tickets to the event can be purchased in advance online by clicking here.
Funds raised by the concert benefit “KEYS,” or Kids Empowered by Your Support, a Bridgeport-based nonprofit that helps “provide free music lessons and performance opportunities to under-resourced students of Bridgeport,” according to its website.
“We are incredibly excited to bring together our community for this event,” Jack Stoler, the Fairfield County Jam founder and rising senior at Staples High School, said in a publicity statement for the concert.
“The Fairfield County Jam is not only a celebration of local talent but also a commitment to empowering the next generation of musicians,” he added.
FCJ, which has set a $25,000 fundraising goal, is dedicated to providing support for children who want to learn and excel at playing musical instruments, but may lack the resources to take lessons to achieve their goals.
