WESTPORT — Nonprofits based in Westport and dozens more across the region will benefit from special “Giving Day” donations Thursday, a 24-hour fundraiser organized by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.

Donations can be made to a wide range of nonprofits and community causes during the day-long, online marathon. Click here to see the list of participating nonprofits and to make a donation. The minimum for a donation is $10, according to FCCF.

More than 400 organizations are joining this year’s fundraiser, which starts at 12 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, and run through 11:59 p.m.

Since 2014, FCCF’s Giving Day has raised $13.75 million for nonprofits around Fairfield County, according to the foundation. Last year, there were approximately 17,000 donations made during the fundraiser’s 24 hours, totaling more than $2 million.

This Giving Day, taking place for a tenth year, will be the final one in its current format, according to an announcement by the foundation.

“While this final Giving Day on Feb. 23 may be a bittersweet moment, it is also an exciting beginning of a new chapter that will allow us to serve our local nonprofits in even more engaging, timely and equitable ways so all of us can thrive,” Mendi Blue Paca, the Fairfield County’s Community Foundation president and CEO, said in the announcement.

Future fundraising endeavors by the foundation will align with its new strategic plan, “Fairfield County Forward,” Paca said.
