WESTPORT — Put to rest the pesky problem about how to get rid of that old mattress.

“Bye, Bye Mattress” is here to help.

A free Nov. 13 program to dispose and recycle old mattresses and box springs will be co-sponsored by Earthplace and Sustainable Westport.

The event will take place for Westport residents from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane.

It will take place outdoors, and will be cancelled only in case of severe weather, according to organizers.

For those unable to transport old bedding to Earthplace, Boy Scout Troop 36 is offering a free pickup service Saturday. Capacity is limited, so organizers recommend signing up soon. Click here to register for a pickup.

Bedding materials are accepted via the “Bye, Bye Mattress” program of the Mattress Recycling Council, a nonprofit that organizes collections in states that have passed mattress-recycling laws, including Connecticut.
