WESTPORT — A wave of warnings has been issued for the town and the rest of southwestern Connecticut to prepare for flooding today and tomorrow, triggered by steady to heavy rainfall most of Friday into early Saturday.

Rainfall, punctuated by downpours and possible thunderstorms, is possible through this evening , according to a “Hazardous Weather” outlook issued Friday by the National Weather Service.

All that precipitation, coupled with the lunar pull exerted by full-moon high tides, have prompted the NWS to issue a combination of alerts — a “Flash Flood Warning” through 1:30 p.m. Friday, a “Flood Watch” through 6 a.m. Saturday and a “Coastal Flood Advisory” through 2 p.m. Saturday.

Particularly vulnerable, according to the weather service, are low-lying \and shoreline areas, which could remain prone to minor flooding even through Sunday morning.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to reach the mid-60s Friday and Saturday, before skies clear Sunday with temperatures rising to a daytime high in the mid-70s.
