WESTPORT — “Below Surface,” a documentary about the Westport-Weston Family YMCA’s AquaFitness program, is making a splash internationally. 

The 19-minute documentary has been selected by the Global Peace Film Festival to be screened as one of its “2023 Free for All Shorts.”

“Below Surface” and the 14 other films chosen for the free virtual screenings can be viewed 24/7 through Oct. 1 by clicking here.

The documentary, filmed at the Westport-Weston Y, “tells the AquaFitters’ stories of healing and hope, and their pushback against COVID,” according to publicity.

It has been accepted for screening at more than 16 film festivals across the country since March.

“Below Surface” also will be shown in-person at the New Haven Documentary Film Festival at noon Oct. 19 in the New Haven Free Public Library, 133 Elm St. in New Haven.
