WESTPORT — Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, brightens Westport’s holiday season with two community menorah lighting ceremonies in the coming week.
Both events, open to all, herald the Jewish observance that runs from Sunday, Dec. 18, to Monday, Dec. 26.
The first event, sponsored by the Schneerson Center of Connecticut, will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the parking lot of the Compo Acres Shopping Center, 400 Post Road East. The event will feature music, gelt and dreidels for attendees.
The second Hanukkah event, organized by several local Jewish congregations, is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, when a giant menorah is lighted at Main Street and Post Road East.
