WESTPORT — There will be a late-summer celebration of food and fun down on the farm.

Wakeman Town Farm, that is. The farm will host its annual Harvest Fest on Sept. 11 — its biggest fundraiser of the year.

The event, starting at 6 p.m., will showcase fare from local farmers and chefs. There also will be music and auctions where attendees can bid on culinary, garden and travel experiences, such as private chef dinners in Tim’s Kitchen Space at the farm; trips to the Caribbean and the Ocean House resort in Watch Hill, R.I., and more.

Organizers say tickets are limited and sell quickly; they can be purchased here:  https://bit.ly/2XuTWqF

Funds raised by Harvest Fest will support 2022 farm programs, including youth education and outreach. Past donations supported free camperships to children from Horizons Bridgeport and families on a limited income.

Seating is on a communal basis, according to Harvest Fest planners. However, for groups of eight a roped-off section guarantees a designated table. Those accommodations must be set by Aug. 30. Visit https://bit.ly/2XuTWqF for details.

Planners say special dietary restrictions for diners are not possible. The evening’s menu will be based on what’s best in local markets, so seasonal offerings may vary. Anticipated offerings include an entree of braised short ribs with seasonal accompaniments, or a vegetarian option of a Moroccan vegetable tagine.

Harvest Fest will go forward in compliance with current health and safety protocols, according to planners. If the event is cancelled because of pandemic conditions or other factors, planners say there will be no ticket refunds.

The cocktail hour will take place outside. However, the rest of the event will be inside a tent. Weather permitting, a few tent panels will be open to allow for air flow. If it is cold or raining, tent panels will be closed.
