WESTPORT—With the first day of autumn upon us, the Department of Human Services Director has announced that applications for the 2026–27 Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) will be accepted beginning Oct. 1. CEAP helps income-eligible Connecticut households with winter heating costs.

Where and how to apply

Westport residents can apply through the Department of Human Services by appointment. While some may choose to go through Alliance for Community Empowerment in Bridgeport or Norwalk, Westporters may benefit from a confidential appointment to determine for which other local programs they may qualify.  To schedule a confidential appointment with a town social worker, residents may call 203-341-1050 or email humansrv@westportct.gov. Home visits are available for homebound residents. Returning applicants will receive instructions by mail.

Who may qualify?

You may be eligible if you are a Connecticut resident and your household meets the program’s income requirements. Eligibility may be established if your household receives SNAP, TANF, SSI, qualifying means-tested Veteran’s benefits, or other qualifying benefits, or if your gross annual household income is at or below 60% of Connecticut’s State Median Income (SMI).
