WESTPORT — The spooky season of costumed candy-seekers officially got underway Wednesday afternoon with the annual Halloween Children’s Parade downtown.

Main Street was closed off for the cute cadre as they sought treats from participating merchants.

Parks and Recreation Department staffers, along with EMS, fire and police personnel, helped make Veterans Green a go-to candy stop as well, featuring more treats and a vintage fire truck.

The Westport Downtown Association and the Westport Police Athletic League also helped organize the event,
