WESTPORT — Zucca Gastrobar, a restaurant opening in Saugatuck this week, is the latest offering in the region’s culinary landscape from the group behind Molto in Fairfield, Lugano in Greenwich, Spiga in New Canaan and Ecco in Trumbull.

In the planning stages since November, the restaurant at 30 Charles St. — where Tarry Lodge previously operated — is expected to open Thursday, June 1, according to Kirsten Comfort, the Zucca manager.

“I’ve been working in this business since I was 14,” she said. “This is one of the best groups I’ve ever worked for … they know what they’re doing.”

Mirrors and gold-and-silver décor create an elegant atmosphere in Zucca Gastrobar, which has been renovated since the property’s previous occupant, Tarry Lodge, closed last year.

The Zucca Gastrobar menu will feature fresh pasta, pizza, tapas, charcuterie, seafood delivered daily, a large selection of salads, craft cocktails and wine, including a list of reserve wines, Comfort said.

Zucca, like the group’s other restaurants, will serve “fresh, good food, homemade in their kitchen … a really solid meal for a good price,” she said.

The interior of the Charles Street building, which was home to the Tarry Lodge for about 15 years, has been redesigned, with elegant silver light fixtures and mirrors framed in sliver on the walls and in the tiled bar area. There is also outdoor seating on a patio.

Owners Dan Camporeale and Gino Raccanelli’s experience pays off with high-quality service, Comfort said.

They can assign staff from their other restaurants when needed elsewhere, and have implemented a business strategy she described as “a well-oiled machine..

Zucca Gastrobar temporarily will be open at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 1, through Sunday, June 4, and will be closed Monday June 5.

The restaurant will operate on a regular schedule starting Tuesday, June 6: 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with extended bar hours as needed, and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
