WESTPORT — Earth Animal’s annual “Mitten Project” last year provided a helping hand — in the amount of $75,000 — for Connecticut Foodshare and its programs helping people struggling with food insecurity.
A check for $75,737 raised from Mitten Project initiatives during 2024 will be presented to Connecticut Foodshare representatives at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Earth Animal store, 925 Post Road East.
Proceeds for the donation to fight hunger were raised through sales at the Earth Animal store, “Shop & Give” events hosted by the local business community, private donations and regular contributions by customers, according to the announcement.
“It has been an amazing undertaking for us all and we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts,” Earth Animal’s owners Dr. Bob, Susan, Merritt and Abbey Goldstein said in the announcement.
The donation will be used to provide more than 150,000 meals throughout the state, said Jason Jakubowski, president and CEO of Connecticut Foodshare.
“Earth Animal’s steadfast commitment to our mission is continuing to make a tremendous difference to the people we serve,” Jakubowski, added.
