WESTPORT — Photographs of subjects near and far by Max Saperstein, a rising Staples High School junior, are showcased in August’s artist-of-the-month exhibit at the Westport Book Shop.
Saperstein’s photos, which capture images of places ranging from the Westport Farmers Market to Italy, will be on display through Aug. 31 at the downtown store, 23 Jesup Road.
The work is also available for purchase.
Saperstein plans to use sale proceeds to support a philanthropic project that he is calling “Max’s Magic,” according to the book shop’s announcement.
He takes portraits of children facing challenges, and using photoshop, transforms their images into an inspirational character like a superhero, sports star or movie character, which then is given to the child.
Saperstein’s work primarily reflects his interests in nature and architecture, according to the publicity release.
At Staples, Saperstein is the photography director of Inklings, the student newspaper. He also was a second-place winner of the Westport PTA’s 2023 Reflections Art Contest, and received special recognition in the Congressional Institute’s 2023 Congressional Art Competition.
