WESTPORT — Members of the Staples Players will join the performing troupe for the Sept. 24 gala of Orchestra Lumos, formerly the Stamford Symphony.

The event will feature British and Broadway singer/actress Maria Friedman in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Palace Theater, 61 Atlantic St., Stamford. To purchase tickets for the gala, which includes cocktails beginning at 6:15 p.m. and a post-concert reception, click here.

The Staples Players will join fellow high school performers from New Canaan and Darien as part of the evening’s presentation.

Friedman, an award-winning actress and director, has been nominated for eight Olivier Awards presented by the Society of London Theater.

The program will feature music by Marvin Hamlisch, Michel Legrand and Stephen Sondheim, with Friedman recalling “her experiences with three of the greatest songwriters of all time,” according to publicity for the gala.

Friedman will be joined by the recently re-branded Orchestra Lumos, under direction of Todd Ellison.
