WESTPORT — A production based on the best-selling book, “The Lightning Thief,” will be presented Dec. 2 at the Westport Country Playhouse.

“The Lightning Thief: TYA Edition,” produced by TheaterWorksUSA, will be performed at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court. The show is appropriate for youngsters in third through sixth grades, according to the theater.

The production is adapted from the book, “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, and based on the Off-Broadway production of “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.”

As the narrative unfolds, the gods and monsters in Percy Jackson’s Greek mythology textbook come to life. Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy becomes the prime suspect. He has 10 days to find and return Zeus’s property and bring peace to warring Mount Olympus, according to publicity for the show.
