WESTPORT — Summer officially arrives next week, and the Levitt Pavilion is set to swing into the new season with a slate of free music, comedy, dance and children’s performances, as well as special ticketed attractions.
Enjoying stars perform on the pavilion stage, under the stars of a summer night, has become a Westport tradition, and Levitt officials promise another season of entertainment appealing to a wide range of tastes and ages.
Most of the season’s more than 50 shows will be free, with tickets, issued in advance via the Levitt Pavilion website and available at the box office two hours before showtime on the date of a performance. For free shows, the pavilion lawn opens to ticket holders an hour before showtime, according to Levitt officials. Performances will take place rain or shine.
The season gets underway June 19, with one of the Levitt’s “Stars on Tour” concerts, featuring Michael Franti and Spearhead. Ticket sales for this and other Stars on Tour concerts help support the free shows scheduled for the rest of the summer. A limited number of tickets remain on sale for the 7 p.m. Franti event, and can be purchased by clicking here.
The first of several “Comedy Night” shows is set for 7 p.m. June 21, with performances by comics Kelly MacFarland, Kathe Farris and Howie Mason. Tickets to the event are free.
The Levitt’s “Children’s Series” starts June 22, with a free 7 p.m. performance by Josh Lovelace, a member of the Grammy-nominated band, NEEDTOBREATHE.
Nine other free performances geared for children’s audiences are planned through Aug. 24.
