“Matilda The Musical,” reimagined for the Coleytown stage from the Broadway production, is replete with colorful characters and songs.
The show tells the story of Matilda Wormwood, a precocious girl with an active imagination, love of learning and telekinetic powers. When she begins attending a new school, the change “opens up both opportunities and challenges as new friendships are forged, obstacles are tackled and a spirit of rebellion is unleashed,” according to Coleytown Company’s announcement.
“Matilda The Musical” was originally slated to be performed at the school in 2020, but was called off because of the COVID pandemic.
“Perhaps it’s about our new team of incredible professionals working side-by-side with the students on everything from music and choreography to set design and costumes,” Ben Frimmer, the Coleytown Company director, said in the announcement.
“Perhaps it’s the amazing talent and commitment I witness each day as the performers rehearse tirelessly. But the genuine excitement and anticipation for this show is unmatched,” he added.
