SHELTON — The theatrical adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic Matilda will take the stage beginning this month.

The first show will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22nd, at Center Stage Theatre. Additional performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26th; Friday, Feb. 27th; and Thursday, March 5th.

Matilda the Musical follows the story of Matilda Wormwood, a brilliant and extraordinary young girl who uses her wit, intelligence, and other skills to take on her cruel parents as well as Miss Trunchbull, the tyrannical headmistress at her new school. The musical was first staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2010, with book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, and has since won 47 international awards.

The Center Stage Theatre production is under the direction of Creative Director Liz Mueller.
