Kaplansky became known in New York City, where she performed with Suzanne Vega, Steve Forbert, the Roches and others. She later sang on Shawn Colvin’s Grammy Award-winning “Steady On” and Nanci Griffith’s “Lone Star State of Mind” and “Little Love Affairs.”
At one point, she set aside her musical career to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology.
Kaplansky released her tenth album, “The Lucy Story,” a biographical collection of mostly unreleased tracks, in January.
Lowman, a 2011 Staples High School graduate, now lives in Brooklyn and is a regular performer in New York City’s folk scene. He also hosts “His Back Pages,” a seasonal show focusing on Bob Dylan’s material, at Cafe Wha? in Greenwich Village.
Lowman released “Invulnerable,” an album of nine original songs, in October. For questions or more information, contact Voices Café at 203-227-7250, ext. 20, or VoicesCafeCT@gmail.com.
