WESTPORT — “Assemblage artworks” by Elizabeth Petrie-Devoll have been selected for the artist-of-the-month display for August at the Westport Book Shop.

The display, showcasing works the Westport artist created from old objects, will be exhibited through Aug. 31 during regular business hours at the store, 23 Jesup Road.

“In a disposable age, I reconfigure, repurpose and compose well-worn and often utilitarian relics,” Petrie-Devoll said in a publicity release for the exhibit. “With unknown yet imagined histories, these artifacts become pieces of nostalgic and puzzle-like compositions.”

Petrie-Devoll, who works from her home studio in Westport, is a member of the board for the Artists Collective of Westport.

She holds a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, and spent more than a decade as an art director on Madison Avenue, primarily at BBDO. She also has taught art at several places in Fairfield County, and served for 10 years as education director and artist in residence at the Westport Historical Society.

More of Petrie-Devoll’s work can be seen at her website.
