WESTPORT–A North Bergen, New Jersey, man is due in court later this month to face a charge that he intercepted, endorsed and deposited a $2,608.34 check that was meant for someone else.

The alleged victim reported the incident at police headquarters on May 14, police said.

Police investigated and found that the check had been mobile-deposited to a bank account belonging to Ramon Tejada-Grullon, 29. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he turned himself in at police headquarters on Aug. 11.

Tejada-Grullon was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft, both felonies, police said. He was released on $5,000 bond and is due in Superior Court in Stamford on Aug. 25, court records show.
