WESTPORT — “The Mitten Project,” organized by Earth Animal, plans a series of fundraising initiatives to benefit Connecticut Foodshare, the nonprofit working to alleviate hunger statewide.

The store’s holiday-season project, now in its 17th year and running through Dec. 31, has “become so popular, we raised $65,000 in 2023. Our goal this year is to reach $70,000 and I know, together, we will all rise to the occasion to help our neighbors once again,” Merritt Goldstein, co-owner of Earth Animal, said in a statement.
The store will match every dollar donated during the campaign, according to the announcement, and will be selling handmade fair-trade mittens, dog treat advent calendars,
The fundraisers include:
“Pumpkins for Good:” Sales of locally grown pumpkins and gourds at the store, 925 Post Road East, throughout October directly benefit Connecticut Foodshare.
“Shop & Give:” A promotion planned with other area stores.
“Pies for Good:” All sales of $20 pies at Wakeman Town Farm, 134 Cross Highway, directly benefit Connecticut Foodshare. Pies can be ordered by clicking here.
“Pet Caricatures:” Book time on Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the store for pet portraits. Call 203-222-7173.
“Wreaths for Good:” Wreaths from Appleberry Farm in Newtown will be sold at the store from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 30.
