NORWALK — The Staples High baseball team, which in each of its victories this spring has scored at least 10 runs, claimed its latest win with a score more consistent with football.

The Wreckers scored three “touchdowns” worth of runs as they defeated host Brien McMahon Senators, 22-6, on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

Jack Farnen had three hits, including a home run, drove in five, walked twice and scored four runs. Noah Saed had two hits, including a homer, drove in a run, walked and scored twice.

Coach Jack McFarland’s Wreckers continue to pile up runs and win games this season.

Andrew Oppenheimer went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and four runs scored. Luke Oakley had two hits, two RBI and a run scored.

Pitcher Ben Cukier helped his own cause with a pair of hits, two runs batted in and a run scored.

With the victory Staples bounced back from a 9-4 loss at Ridgefield on Tuesday, improving to 4-3 overall for the season. The Wreckers will visit Norwalk High at 4 p.m. Friday, a team Staples defeated 10-0 on April 10. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest updates.)
