WESTPORT — Twenty members of the Staples High School Class of 2024 will graduate this spring with high honors, school officials announced Tuesday.

To graduate with high honors, a student’s grade-point average must rank in the top 4 percent of the class.

The Class of 2024 high honors students include: Connor Hoebun Ng,  Ellen Lilan Ou, Kaitlyn Minjoo Seo, Kathryn Taylor Asiel, Defne Merih and Gabriela Lillian de Brito, Leigh Min Yu Foran, Emerson Candace Briggs and Neva Bennett Mermagen.

Also, Mabel Valentine Propper, Andrew Max Berkowitz, Peter John Loranger, Darren Tachi Weng, Gabriel Dali Weng, Dyan Nicholas Fiore, Courtlyn Brinleigh Crombie, Elizabeth Layton Turner, Jeremy David Rosenkranz, Eitan Eiger and Jameson Kai Russell.

“This class, is extremely talented and the most astonishing aspect of this accomplishment is that these students were involved in a number of extracurricular activities and various aspects of school life which took a great deal of time, focus and concentration outside of the classroom as well,” Staples Principal Stafford Thomas Jr. said in a statement announcing the honors.

“We were lucky to have had them for four years and we will no doubt be hearing about their next great achievements in the years to come.”
