DANBURY — The Staples High boys basketball team wrapped up the Immaculate Holiday Tournament with a 64-52 title-winning victory over the hosts Friday evening.
The Wreckers had defeated West Haven 62-51 in the first round of the tourney Wednesday to advance to Friday’s championship game.
Sam Clachko scored a combined 55 points in the two games to earn tourney MVP accolades, and Adam Udell was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Immaculate had edged Pomperaug 47-46 to advance to the title game.
In the championship game victory, Clachko scored 24 and Udell dropped in 16 to pace the Wreckers’ offense over the hosting Mustangs.
Against West Haven, Clachko scored 31 points to go along with five rebounds and four steals. Mason Tobias scored 14 points, had 10 rebounds and came up with three steals.
Adam Udell logged nine points, seven rebounds and five assists, along with two steals. Nick Sikorski scored five points and had five rebounds. Nathan Smith had three points, four assists and a trio of steals.
The Wreckers are off for a week before Ridgefield visits Westport at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
