WESTPORT — Paint the town spooky, maybe a little silly and, possibly, even a little scary.

Young artists bedecked windows of local businesses with images of the season for the annual “Halloween Window Painting Contest” on Saturday, sponsored by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce.

Painters from elementary and middle school age groups will be chosen in three art categories: scariest, best Halloween theme and most original, according to the chamber. Winners, after judging, will receive an award and a gift certificate from Saugatuck Sweets.

Three-year contest participant Scarlett Nathan, 9, a Saugatuck Elementary School student, paints a window at Brown Harris Stevens on Post Road East as her mom, Lauren Nathan, lends a hand. Scarlett continues the family tradition begun by her sister, who participated in the Halloween Window Painting Contest for six years.
Penelope Dunne, 4, who attends Earthplace Preschool, and Piper Kresge, 4, of Saugatuck Nursery School, finish off a scene at Forward Motion Physical Therapy.
Santiago Rozo, 11, standing, and Manuela Rozo, 12, right, students at Bedford Middle School, were joined by cousin Erin Dineen, 8, of Wilton, painting a window at Cold Fusion on Main Street.
