WESTPORT — With the November municipal election a month away, the League of Women Voters of Westport will host two forums next week for candidates seeking election to three of the town’s major boards.
The Nov. 7 ballot will feature candidates seeking election only to municipal boards and commissions. A contest for the office of first selectman will not be on the ballot for another two years, and there also are no contested federal or state offices this year.
The LWV has scheduled a debate for candidates running for the Planning and Zoning Commission at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave.
Candidates seeking election to the Boards of Education and Finance are scheduled to appear for separate debates on Thursday, Oct. 12, in Town Hall — at 7 p.m. for school board contenders, followed at 8:15 p.m. for finance board candidates.
The program also will live-streamed via the town’s website and broadcast by Optimum Channel 79.
Questions for the candidates, which will not be accepted from audience on the nights of the debates, can be submitted in advance by emailing: lwvwestportct@yahoo.com.
