WESTPORT — A 49-year-old man faces an assault charge in connection with a domestic violence incident last November.

Roberto Porzio, of Westport, was charged July 6 with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police were called to a local residence last Nov. 7 to investigate the report of domestic violence.

Officers heard conflicting accusations, which led investigators to believe Porzio had engaged in an altercation with a relative, but there was “no evidence to corroborate the incident,” according to the report.

Five days later, however, the other person involved in the incident provided police with surveillance camera footage that showed “Porzio grab the complainant and push them to the ground,” police said.

A warrant was issued for Porzio’s arrest, and on July 6 he turned himself in at Police Department headquarters, where he was formally charged.

He was released after posting $7,500 bond and arraigned the next day at state Superior Court in Stamford.
