WESTPORT — The Staples High girls soccer team won its Class LL State Tournament second round game, advancing to Saturday’s quarterfinals.
No. 3 Staples blanked No. 14 Greenwich 5-0 in Thursday’s second round action.
Natalie Chudowsky had two goals and an assist, and Reilly McGeehan, Coco Crombie and Annabel Edwards all scored.
Evelyn Chudowsky had two assists and Maddie Johnson and Caitlin Chu also had assists.
Staples was coming off a first round bye.
The Wreckers move on from facing one familiar FCIAC foe to taking on another — No. 27 Wilton, which visits Westport at 2 p.m. Saturday in the next tournament round. Staples was a 4-1 winner over Wilton during the regular season.
Saturday’s winner will face either No. 2 Glastonbury or No. 7 Fairfield Warde in the semis on a date next week yet to be determined.
