WESTPORT — “Ripcord,” a comedy by David Lindsay-Abaire, will be presented Nov. 14 in the “Script in Hand” series at the Westport Country Playhouse.

The staged play-reading will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the theater, 25 Powers Court. Before the play-reading, the band Drop Party will perform music in the lobby, beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $20. For more information about the presentation and to purchase tickets online, click here.

Lindsay-Abaire, a Pulitzer Prize winner, also wrote the book and lyrics for the show, “Kimberly Akimbo,” now on Broadway.

“Ripcord,” according to a playhouse publicity release, unfolds when “cantankerous Abby is forced to accept the ever-cheerful Marilyn as her new roommate at the Bristol Place Senior Assisted-Living Community. A harmless wager for a bed by the window quickly escalates into an epic contest of wills involving Sudoku, skydiving, the complications of extended family and a hearty helping of peach cobbler.”

The cast features Jan Neuberger as Abby and Tina Johnson as Marilyn. Both actresses have lengthy careers, including performances on Broadway, as well as earlier appearances at the Westport Country Playhouse.

The play-reading is directed by Mark Shanahan, curator of the “Script in Hand” series and the Playhouse Radio Theater.
