WESTPORT — Downtown street closures are planned next week to permit paving operations.

The work, weather permitting, is planned Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17-18, on Main Street between Post Road and Avery Place, and on Avery Place between Main Street and Myrtle Avenue, according to an announcement by Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich.

Main Street will be closed to traffic and parking at 5 a.m. Monday, and Avery Place will be closed at 10 a.m. Monday.

Once road milling is completed Monday, both roads will be re-opened to traffic until paving begins.

On Tuesday, paving operations are scheduled to close Main Street at 5 a.m. and Avery Place at 10 a.m.

With possible rain forecast early next week, officials warn that paving may have to be postponed till Wednesday.
