WESTPORT — A 31-year-old man had crack cocaine and heroin in his possession when he was pulled over on Greens Farms Road last week, police said.
Gustavo Artega-Osorno, of Norwalk, was charged Oct. 8 with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, misuse of a license plate, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and second-degree failure to appear in court.
The incident took place about 6 p.m. Oct. 8 when a car driven by Artega-Osorno was pulled over on Greens Farms Road for what police said was a motor vehicle violation.
When Artega-Osorno got out of the vehicle to speak with the officer, a glass pipe was spotted by the officer, who recognized it as the type of device used to smoke crack cocaine, according to the police report.
Subsequently, two grams of suspected crack cocaine and two grams of suspected heroin were found in the car, police said.
Police also learned there was an active warrant for Artega-Osorno’s arrest for failing to appear at state Superior Court in Stamford, as well a warrant issued by the Ansonia Police Department.
He was placed under arrest, and after posting bonds totaling $17,500, was turned over to Ansonia police in response to their warrant.
Artega-Osorno is scheduled to be arraigned on the Westport charges Oct. 17 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
